    • google maps showing factory shops in “city centre tour”. (shows Joseph Cheaney in Desborough as well, zoom in for city centre shops)
    • Option:Click here to see the attractions (with videos) at Abingdon Park. I recommend getting something to eat at the lovely indoor/oudoor cafe there
    • Crockett & Jones only open on Friday afternoons and Saturday from 9 am to 4pm so Monday to Thursday you will have to skip this one.If it's a Friday and you have done the rest of my tour, you will have arrived in the afternoon at C & J's anyway, perhaps fortified after something to eat at the cafe at Abington Park. Click here to see my videos for the Museum, Aviary, Exotic trees, Squirrels and cafe with outside terrace.
    • Unless you are a John Lobb snob, I would skip their factory shop which is the next on my tour after the one on this page: Crockett & Jones. The John Lobb shop manageress would not let me film. That's not why I am advising you not to go there. It's because of their prices. Around £550 for seconds, compared to around £180 at most other factory shops (written in spring 2018).
    • At all the Northampton shoe factory shops you will find oxfords, loafers, with tassels and without, monk style (buckles), brogues and Chelsea boots although some specialize in one type more than others. Crockett and Jones do the whole gamut with very subtle yet different designs, using top quality skins and superb finishing. Pure class! Like all the other factory shops they have started to do some shoes with Dainite rubber soles instead of leather but still Goodyear welted of course. Crockett & Jones, on this page, is my favourite shoe factory shop. In some factory shops I like some styles more than others but I really love every single shoe in Crockett & Jones.
    • Expect to pay the “imperfect” price of around £180 for the shoes in the factory shop - just over half of the normal retail price. Only the Crocket and Jones quality inspector would be able to tell you why they are seconds.
    • I was made to feel very welcome by the friendly shop manageress at Crockett & Jones. I filmed on a Saturday morning and the place was heaving. I had to slalom round the customers to get my shots. Unrestricted parking in the street without too much difficultly. It's quite easy to miss the factory shop entrance (like I did). I made a video to show you the entrance. Click here

    • Review:
“... Great shoes and prices. Picked up some subs at good discounts. As with all factory shops you need a bit of luck with stock, but definitely worth a visit...”
    • Now time to take a break and have something to eat. Head for the very nice indoor/outdoor cafe in lovely Abingdon Park (complete with Musuem, Aviary, squirrels and exotic trees). Very popular with Northamptonites. If it's a fine day you can sit outside on the terrace. In fact it if's a sunny day you might have to go round the perimeter of the park once or twice before a parking space opens up.
