  • (Page revised and edited March 2024) If you have been following my car tour you may have already visited Church's and maybe taken a little time out from shoe fetishization to visit the Charles Rennie Mackintosh house in 78 Derngate and if you are a Victorianaphile, maybe the Guildhall as well. The Museum < was completely refurbished and re-opened in 2021, As you will have seen if you watched my videos of these attractions on the Church's page, they are all grouped close together - so well worth a visit on the way to Edward Green's from Church's, even if it's only a fleeting one. If you are going to stay longer than two hours, park in the multi storey car park in Swann Street and walk back (300 meters to the museum)
  • Click here to see a 9 minute video of the route from Derngate/Guildhall Rd to Edward Green in real time. (Entrance to multi storey car park in Swann Street at 2.26).
  • Click here to see a 2 minute, speeded up version.
  • As with Church's the shop manager did not want me to do any filming but you can get an idea of the shoes from the pictures on this page. I noted from my visit that shoes styles and prices are pretty much in line with Crocket & Jones and Joseph Cheaney. I saw some very nice suede loafers. Definitely worth a visit as part of the tour. You will have to park in front of or by the side of the modernist style factory. It can be hard, but not impossible to find a space. If you can't find a space, skip it because there is nowhere else to park within walking distance. Jeffery-West is only 250 yards further on up Cliftonville Rd.

Review:
“....Among major shoe manufacturers in Northampton, Edward Green has the widest variety of shoe models. You can find belt and socks as well. Like other factory stores, the staff are very hospitable!..”
