    • Mission statement: “Life's too short to wear boring shoes”
    • Style: Traditional Northampton craftsmanship meets bohemian decadence.
    • (Page revised and edited March 2024) Take a walk on the wild side at Jeffery-West. If you have been following my car tour of the city centre factory shops you will have already visited Church's and maybe taken a little time out to visit the Charles Rennie Mackintosh house in 78 Derngate and perhaps also the gothic revival Guildhall if you like Victorian architecture and maybe the Museum and Art Gallery which was completely reburbished and opened in 2021. Then on to Edward Green. Or you could have gone straight to Edward Green from Church's.
    • Only a stone's throw from Edward Green Jefferey-West is only 250 yards further along Cliftonville Rd from Green's. Jefferey-West designs are not all wildly flamboyant. Some are just different in subtle ways (see images and my video). So even if you are not Keith Richards and you don't see yourself in the Hellfire boots (see image in side panel), they are only 250 strides from the more subdued styles of Edward Green. So check them out. Live dangerously for once.
    • Beautiful shop! This is a lovely shop with a great ambience. Very thoughtfully and theatrically designed to suit the extrovert shoe styles. I loved the risqué posters. The manageress was very friendly and allowed me to film.
    • Park here only! Click here to look at my video for where to park. Make sure you park in the shop's own car park (there are spaces). There is absolutely no parking available in the surrounding streets unless you are prepared to walk for miles. This is one of the shops that opens on Saturday mornings. I think you need to be tall to carry off the Jeffery-West styles and unfortunately for me I am short. Otherwise it would be my favourite Northampton factory shop.

    • Reviews from google:
    • “...Very art house show room for shoes..”
    • Adam Viner on google says: “...The best shoes and boots in The World! I've worn Church's Loakes Barkers and Cheaney shoes for the past 25 years, but Jefferey West are the only shoe that makes my wide fitting feet look slender. The look is that of a cross between a classic brogue and a cowboy boot which is truly ICONIC. Everyone should have at least 1 pair for special occasions!” (Chris's note: More like a cross between a buckled monk shoe and a cowboy boot in my opinion.)

      • Get something to eat at Abingdon Park If you have bought all the shoes you want by now, or if you are still going to visit Trickers and/or Crockett and Jones, I recommend getting something to eat in the very popular indoor/outdoor cafe in lovely Abingdon Park before heading north back to my premises (or back to Rugby/Coventry etc. for inhabitants of those towns) via Kettering and/orJoseph Cheaney. if it's summer, either visit Stanford Hall on the way back. Click here to see events and when open to the public or Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens. Click here for opening times and prices . If you visit Stanford Hall, I recommend also having a look at this beautiful 14th century church (video shot by me in 2008) in Stanford. You could also visit the Carpet Baggers aviation museum in Harrington (only open on weekends) on the way back if you are a WWII buff. But if you are hungry already and can't hold out to Kettering, I recommend the cafe at Abingdon Park. NN3 2BX
