  • google maps showing factory shops in “city centre tour”. (shows Joseph Cheaney in Desborough as well, zoom in for city centre shops)
  • Very expensive Unless you are a John Lobb aficionado I would advise you to skip this one. Prices are more than double those of other factory shops. Around £550 for seconds compared to £180 for seconds at most other factory shops. (For real bargains see the NPS profile page and video). Unfortunately, the shop manageress at John Lobb would not let me film so I can't show you the shoes. You can get an idea from the images on this page.
  • It's quite easy to miss the Fort Knox like entrance on Oliver Street. Unrestricted street parking.Click here  to see my video of parking and entrance.
  • Have something to eat at the indoor/outdoor cafe at Abingdon Park. If you have been following my tour conscientiously without missing any shops, apart perhaps from Crockett and Jones because of their restricted opening hours you will definitely be flagging by now. That is unless you took a well earned break and ate something at the cafe in Abington Park one mile away and visited the small museum there. If you didn't, I highly recommend that you do that now, especially if it's a nice day. The park and cafe are very popular with Northampton families and on sunny days you might have to go round the park perimeter a few times before a parking space opens up. • John Lobb 40-46 Oliver St, Northampton NN2 7JJ
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 12pm
  • Style: Super luxury, hand made, bespoke, made to measure shoes which cost around £3,000. Mainly men’s but some women’s styles as well. 3 royal warrants. I once reat that the billionaire arms dealer Adnan Kashoggi wore a pair of custom made loafers on his yacht and threw them overboard before going to bed and put on a new pair of the same design, the next morning. (What a jerk!) Since 1982, ready to wear are produced as well. Ready to wear shoes with slight imperfections are sold at half price in the factory shop. Full story here on wikipedia
  • Similar styles to Crockett & Jones but a lot bit more expensive. Is the extra expense justified? I will let you decide. Crockett & Jones, like John Lobb now also has a bespoke department but it's in their Paris flagship shop.

  •  “...Great place for a discount on Lobb if you're flexible on styles and colors. Very helpful team to help for you for the correct size as well. Parking can be a challenge on the street and you might have to park on an adjoining street. Parking on the road is free….”
